Albert Cano Smit

Born in Geneva (Switzerland) in 1996, he moved to Barcelona where he started to study music at the age of 6. After joining the Montserrat Abbey Music School, where he studied piano and organ with Vicenç Prunés, he received a scholarship to continue his musical studies at Chetham’s School of Music with Marta Karbownicka, Murray McLachlan and Graham Caskie. He has been a prizewinner at prestigious competitions such as the Ricard Viñes in Lleida, the Manchester International Piano Concerto Competition for Young Pianists under 23, the Chopin Festival in Mazovia (Poland) or the Beethoven Society of Europe Competition. He has performed as a soloist at several venues around Europe and the United States, including the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Enric Granados Auditorium in Lleida or the Westminster Cathedral in London. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Manchester Camerata, and has received master classes from artists including Andrei Gavrilov, Kevin Kenner, John Lill, Peter Donohoe, Robert McDonald, Ilya Itin, Carlo Grante, Hae-Sun Paik, Boris Berman and Fabio Bidini, among others. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music at the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where he studies with Ory Shihor.
